I hope everyone has a wonderful memorial day and takes the time to think about the people who have given their lives for our freedom.

May 23rd is World Turtle Day!

The purpose of World Turtle Day, May 23, sponsored yearly since 2000 by American Tortoise Rescue, is to bring attention to, and increase knowledge of and respect for, turtles and tortoises, and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.

Here’s a few turtles I’ve photographed….

Gunther LOVES to watch TV. He doesn’t like everything but he’s got a few favorites….

Meerkat Manor was a BIG highlight of his day! Too bad they don’t show it anymore. In the photo below you can see him watching it, we used to have to put the baby gate in front of the TV to keep him from going up to it and smearing his nose all over it. That’s our old TV by the way….we’ve got a new HD one that just blows that old one out of the water!

I can’t recall what he was watching in this photo below…sometimes, whether there are animals on or not, he’ll just sit there and stare. Lately he’s been enjoying Golden Girls re-runs with me since my back has been out of whack and I’ve spent a lot of time at home.

He also doesn’t restrict his viewing to the television, he’ll watch anything…..and if it involves cats…he’s thrilled!

I wanted to go way back in my flickr stream….back in time…. to see some of the images I’ve forgotten about.  I figured I’d find some pretty terrible stuff that would be fairly embarrassing to show here!  Actually, I found some images that I’m still VERY proud of today!

This was also from 2007, and I see I edited it in Lightroom, I’m not liking the colors of this, or that heavy vignette around it…but it’s not too shabby!

Another from 2007, selective coloring….I’m not a big fan of it, but in some instances it does work!

I think this was when I first got the 50mm 1.8, can you see what’s wrong with this picture? I used the on-board flash! Oh noes! What was I thinking back then? I have no idea.

I’ve come a long way from using the on board flash!

I’ve come a long way in using lightroom to edit my photos and although I no longer use the 50mm 1.8, I now use the 50mm 1.4 and don’t ever pop that on board flash up!

Look at how gray my baby Gunther has gotten since that photo above in 2007! We’re all getting old…and we’re not thrilled about it, lol
