This past Friday I had the pleasure of doing some headshots for the wonderful and talented G-Ryda. He’s an up and coming hip hop/rap super talented artist that I’m sure you’ll be hearing about in the near future. He’s also an Iraq war veteran, so I was so happy to be able to do these images for him.
We did the typical head shot type stuff, and then moved on to some more fun poses….I haven’t done any types of shoots like this, and because I needed a large area to do these, we used our big loft set up upstairs. I tried to get a little creative with the lighting and shadows and was really pleased with how these came out.
Thanks G-Ryda for the great session, you are a natural in front of the camera, you’re very talented and I think we all had a great time!
We just did a shoot this past weekend at the Humane Society of Broward County (please check out their website and all of the absolutely adorable pooches and kitties they have up for adoption!). We photographed some of the therapy dogs and their owners. My husband and I brought our whole entire studio set up with the seamless white paper and floor to the shelter. My buddy Marni Bellavia was there and we made quite the team…getting everyone in and out, getting tons of amazing shots, Marni working the squeaky toys like nobody’s business, and just having a blast while we did it! Marni’s aunt was also there, taking care of the registrations and paperwork, and…as you’ll see…she shot the little video clips you’ll see below…I can’t thank her enough for that!
The dog owners were amazing and so sweet, but their dogs were just as amazing too! I can see why they do what they do…visiting schools, nursing homes, hospitals, etc. I heard some wonderful heartwarming stories of how everyone came to own/adopt their dogs and some of the people they’ve met while doing pet therapy work.
Here’s a little video of just one of the owners and dogs…I wish we could have gotten more video of the 13 other owners/dogs there.
(if you’re reading this blog post on facebook, you’ll have to come to – heathergreenblog.com to view the video).
Here’s a few sneak peeks from just a few of the sessions…more to come as I go through the 2000+ photos I took tomorrow and begin to get all of the print package orders placed.
Bella the Australian Shepherd….one word to describe her? Delicious! What an absolutely beautiful, talented and sweet dog! She also came in with Cinch, another Aussie who was whispering sweet nothings in my ear as I took photos of Bella
This photo of Sherry and Sophie really shows the fun day we had…. Sophie is a Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever x Poodle mix), who was just so lovable and sweet, I wanted to just love on her all day!
Virginia and her Maltese babies…. these three tiny little furbabies were just ADORABLE! I love this shot of them with all of their tongues out at the same time, too cute!
Lori and Tovah were an adorable couple! Tovah’s coat was amazing, so soft! And I loved how color coordinated Lori’s top was to Tovah’s coat…not sure if this was planned or not but I loved it!
Candace, Bo and Cricket…. such a sweet lady with super sweet dogs…loved them! I love Aussies, they are just so intelligent…so much so that you can see it in their eyes. Check out those adorable animal print bandannas!
Linda and Bella…..these two were just so sweet together! I love doing pet photography, you can see how much love the person and the pet have for eachother…and these two were soul mates!
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Marni, Chris and their dogs in the studio and wanted to share their images with you. Here is a little information about Marni, and what she does…
Marni shares her life with her rescued companion animals who she says “rescued her.” They are Oliver, 13 year old Shih Tzu, Cali, 10 year old Sheltie, Sydney 5 year old Sheltie, China and Panda both ferrets, Harley and Zuni Bear both cats and her human companion Chris.
Marni is the owner and trainer for HumaneK9. She has worked with the Humane Society of Broward County for the past 14 years and currently continues her dedicated work there. As part of the staff at the shelter, she has had the opportunity to work with and train a wide variety of dogs of all breeds. It is with this knowledge and other forms of education that has prepared her to excel in the field of dog training.
At HumaneK9, we feel very strongly that a successful relationship is created between dog and human by building trust and mutual understanding. We believe in and use humane training methods that enhance the communication between handler and dog. We teach our classes using positive-reinforcement based training and encourage the use of humane “people empowering” techniques in our classes. We do not employ or tolerate harsh and inhumane punishment-based methods, as we feel that this type of punishment breaks down the relationship between dog and handler and in itself, escalates aggression.
Marni is also the Manager of the Animal Assisted Therapy Program (pet therapy) at the Humane Society of Broward County. In this capacity Marni trains, evaluates and certifies all people and pets interested in volunteering with the Humane Society of Broward County’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program. As a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Marni is consistently on the cutting edge of new dog training methods such as but not limited to: clicker training, target training, rally obedience, behavior modification as well as others. In addition, Marni is a certified American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and conducts classes to prepare people and dogs to take their CGC test.
Saturday my assistant (aka husband) and I went to do a photo shoot with a very dear friend. She has three wonderful well trained dogs and because one of them is sick, she wanted photos done right away. It was so wonderful to be able to do this for her and her fur-babies. Here’s a few shots from Saturday!
And we had some baby squirrels try and get in on the action too!
