We had another HUGE flickr meet up this past Sunday at Green Cay Wetlands. It was a combo meet up and farewell party to a really great photographer and a really great guy. Dennis is leaving Florida for Wisconsin. Not something he’d normally do I’m sure, but he has to move where his job tells him to. We had a ton of people there, and everyone had a really great time. A big thanks goes out to Alan for getting this whole meet up together.
I totally enjoy these meet ups. With every meet up I meet more and more flickr contacts, it’s so great to finally put a face with a flickr screen name. Not only do you meet great people, but everyone is so willing to share their knowledge so you learn things too. If you’re in Florida, make sure you join one of these flickr groups if you’d like to keep up on any future meet ups, we love to meet new people!

Here’s the group shot from our Viera Wetlands Flickr meet up…check out all those peeps! We had such a great time. Click the photo to be taken to it’s flickr page to see links to all of the photographers. And yes, I’m in there too

We had an awesome meet up this past weekend at Viera Wetlands and a HUGE turnout! I was glad to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. It’s always great to put a face with a flickr screen name.
First, we all met at Viera Wetlands for some shooting there.
Here’s just a few of the many people we had at the meet up.

There were bald eagles there, but these two were way off in a tree, had to crop this image quite a bit so you could see them…

And I was able to get my first shot of an American Bittern:

Then it was on to visit the Florida Scrub Jays, what cute and BRAVE little guys these birds are!

We had a great time and I’m looking forward to next month’s meet up!
The weather is so nice and cool today, I’ve got the windows open and am loving it! The only downside is Ida. I’m wondering what that tropical storm is going to do this week. There’s all types of forecasts for it, here’s one:

Hopefully she leaves southwest Florida alone and we can get through this hurricane season unscathed.
On a happier note, we’ve got a HUGE Flickr meet up happening tomorrow morning at Viera Wetlands in Melbourne, Florida. All kinds of photographers are coming out and meeting up to do some wildlife photography. It should be a great time! For more information on the meet up, check out the thread in the Florida Outdoors group HERE.
I’m charging batteries for both camera bodies and the little point and shoot. I’m hoping to finally be able to photograph a Harrier, those birds are just amazing to watch. Wish me and the rest of the group luck and maybe we’ll see you there!
