I bought a set of colored gels for the studio lights and they arrived the other day.  I didn’t have long to play with them, but I did want to share the results I got from them.

Since the fabric backdrops I have weren’t hung up, I just threw them over a chair.  I put an orange gel on the light on the left and a red gel on the light on the right…shooting at the fabric….here are the results:

The top photos are of the fabric before the gels and the bottom photos are of the fabric after the gels.  As you can see…you can basically change your backdrops to whatever color you’d like!    Tons of possibilities here!

I plan to experiment much more, hopefully this coming week.

Even though I had a cold (still do actually), we had a great time in the studio this past weekend doing two different sessions.  I must say…before we get to the photos, I’ve got to give a huge shout out to the BEST photographer’s assistant in the word…my husband.   From adjusting props, making silly noises and faces, wearing some of the props (even arranging a phone call from Santa to our little five year old subject), to just being an all around amazing guy… he did it all!    And can you believe that tomorrow he and I will have been married 13 years!  Yes!  I just want to say to him, Happy Anniversary baby, I love you!

Yesterday we had two shoots in the studio and I just wanted to share a sneak peek of Rhyan Elizabeth…this beautiful baby just so happens to be one of my nieces!

We are giving away studio sessions for three lucky winners!

We understand that in today’s economy, not everyone can afford a professional to do their family photos.  Family photos are very important, and everyone should have them taken at some point in their lives. We would like to give three people the chance of being able to do this at no charge.

We will require that people email us about themselves, a family or a friend they feel would love to receive the gift of a free studio photo shoot and free prints.  Please explain to us why they feel they, a friend, or a family should receive the free studio session.
They must submit their entry to cesstrelle@aol.com – please put ‘photo session’ in the subject line, or use the CONTACT page on the website.

Each person that nominates someone will be required to provide us with their full name, phone number and email address and also the full name, phone number and email address of the person(s) they are nominating.
Depending on the number of entries, we will narrow it down to 10 finalists and then post their stories on the blog and have blog readers vote.

The ten finalists and the people who nominated them will be notified by phone or via email when the voting begins on the blog and will be emailed the exact link to the voting page so that they can email the link out to friends and family and get as many votes as they can.

The winners will be responsible for their own transportation to and from our studio in North Fort Myers, Florida.  Photos will be taken in our studio on a seamless white backdrop (other backdrops may be available at the time of the session).  We ask that the winners dress appropriately for the look that they would like to achieve at the photo shoot.  Upon winning we can give them ideas on what to wear.  We will provide any chairs, benches, props, etc. needed for the shoot.

Proofs will be ready for viewing one week from their studio session date.  They will then be given a link to an online gallery to view their proofs, and decide which ones they’d like printed.  All prints and a CD with all of their images on it will be mailed to them within two weeks after they choose their prints (greeting cards may take longer to ship from the lab).

and we will begin scheduling their appointments to come in for their studio sessions.

All ‘winners’ must collect their prize package within 30 days of November 16th.  If they schedule an appointment after December 7th we can not guarantee their photos and cards will be ready by Christmas.
